Nokia loses ground to HTC
HTC Z Desire and Desire HD are the first to two Nokia smartphones do not include preloaded maps on your phone.
This is very important if you do not have a data plan or if you frequently travel abroad because they can avoid the costs of connection when using maps on the phone.
So far only Nokia could offer this feature through the acquisition of Garmin took a couple of years ago.
Now, following a partnership with TomTom, HTC also can compete on this front with two high-end phones: 600 € each.
Apparently the maps are seen as a minor by the general public who care about the symbolic value of their mobile phone much more than functionality.
To me it makes a big difference.
