Black Stool When Drinking Wine

Treat me with love. Life of a book at a public library. Push

Oliver Twist at Bologna Sala Borsa library My name is Oliver Twist, of my adventures (beating, orphanage and prison, escaping and being caught, exploitment in the gang of scummy Fagin) many of you already know...
Of my adventures in the library, instead, probably you don't imagine much. I look like an ill-treated book: fact is, actually, many of you loved me, many fingers rummaged through my pages, drew lines and crosses by pencil, some of you while reading me surely spilled tears, others maybe just tea but in the end I'm happy this way. I worked hard in more than one library (at least judging by the sequence of stamps, different inventories and by the stratigraphy of labels) and got to the end of my days with the pride of a survivor who faced with honour all its battles.
A greeting
your Oliver Twist

This touching label, posted on a dismissed book is part of the exhibition " Treat me with love " at the Sala Borsa Library in Bologna.
I apologize for the roughness of the translation but I wanted to share this with the highest possible number of people.
As you can imagine the aim of the exhibition is to rise people awareness on the importance of keeping in a good state the library's material. They Could Have signals posted everywhere in the corridors with sentences appealing to people's sense of guilt, INSTEAD They did an exhibition appealing to people's emotions.
This is just one of a million small Reasons Why I love this town.
