Free your status updates
When it comes to privacy on Facebook in general it is done for two reasons: either because it was discovered a bug or to warn against setting too permissive.
But I want to explain why some things should be shared with everyone, including those who are not among friends, even those who are not joined Facebook.
your audience? Recruiters and potential employers.
Suppose I'm a fan of finance (casualmente. ..) and that from time to time financial news comments on my status updates. Why not make these comments public? A potential recruiters are looking for information about me see who are really passionate about finance, and a spontaneous passion sometimes can be worth almost as much as a degree in the eyes of a recruiter.
argument: the recruiter not Google the names of potential candidates.
FALSE! A Google search takes less than one second and the recruiter's interest to inquire as much as possible about the candidates (at least I always do it). Also for the temporary or internship positions. There's nothing worse than take a candidate who is then found to be unfit organization.
So before clicking on the "Share" let us ask ourselves: "This post can improve my online reputation?" If the answer is yes, then it is worth relaxing the confidentiality of that post by clicking on the padlock to the side of the Share button and select "Everyone".
NB: This rule also applies in reverse: before posting something potentially embarrassing to make sure you select "Friends Only" (and of course, friends choose it with care).
